Record browser
A reader-facing surface for Supper Club Secrets,
built from nothing but its compiled records. It is what the
outward layer is for: pinakes compile
turns chapters and the codex into records, and anything can read them without
knowing about Pinakes.
Set how far you have read. Scenes, posts, register changes and item hand-offs
each carry a chapterRef, and nothing past your position is shown, so the page
never spoils what you haven’t reached. Characters and places appear once
something you have read names them.
How it’s built
Section titled “How it’s built”The page fetches one file, records.json, and filters it
in the browser. docs/scripts/sync-demo.mjs produces that file by compiling the
universe through the library API with write: false, so the
universe’s own records/ directory is never touched.
Two choices a real surface would make too:
- It never shows a state event’s
state. That field is the author’s full annotation, written by someone who knows the whole book, and it routinely says what the character doesn’t know. The browser showsregisterandregisterExpronly;pinakes contextwithholdsstateby default for the same reason. - The reveal gate is
chapterRef, notpublishDate. A serialized run can release a post before a late reader has earned it. Seecharacter.postfor how the two gates differ.
